-12/4 Teacher Leader Meeting Notes: 1. Reminder of chapter checklist (attached) - Please be sure you are in compliance! 2. Leadership Conference on 10/23 – Success! Almost 200 students! - Please keep this on your radar for next year's leaders! Consider holding your elections this spring so that you can have your leadership lined up for next year and you can hit the ground running in August. Let your exec board do the work for you! 3. State Conference Theme 2026 – Teaching Takes the Spotlight Slogan – Lights, Camera, Learn! This year, we are emphasizing the fact that teachers are the foundation of the most meaningful stories, and that Educators Rising inspires the next generation of stars. Thursday, April 30th and Friday, May 1st, 9:00 – 3:00 Cost approximately $50 per attendee Call for Proposals will be sent out by the end of the month, please encourage your students to submit or submit something yourself! T-shirt design contest will start in January! - Please encourage your artistic students to submit a design! Winner will get their design printed on hundreds of conference t-shirts and earn a free registration for themselves and their teacher leader! 4. Follow our student leaders on Instragram! - EducatorsRisingMD and educatorsrising 5. NEW - Handbook for Chapter Leaders! Scholarship Applications are now open and will close on 3/1/25! State Officer update: So far the state officers have travelled with me to three conferences, helping me to present at each. They have run state wide webinars and they assisted in running the First Annual Leadership Conference at UMBC. They will be facilitating the t-shirt design contest, the state wide conference and they are coming with me to Annapolis in February for Maryland CTSO Advocacy day on the hill! 6 of them will be coming with me to national conference in Oregon! Please encourage your students to apply to be officers next year! 8. Your entire group can work on one competition in teams, you can have them present and they can all score each other or you can invite your administration to score. This will familiarize tem with the process, the rubrics, etc and get them prepared for next year!

T-shirt Design Contest & Competition Updates: -The t-shirt design contest is in progress, please encourage your artistic students to participate! The winner will get their t-shirt design printed on the conference t-shirts, they will get honored at the state conference AND they will get free registration! The conference theme is "Teaching Takes the Spotlight! January's competitions will be hosted by PG County, and February's competitions will be hosted by Worcester County AND Howard County. ALL SIGN UPS CLOSE ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE COMPETITIONS, AND ALL PRE-SCORED MATERIALS MUST BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. -If you have students whom you think may be attending nationals, I suggest that you make hotel reservations now. The hotel blocks just opened, and they often sell out.
