Educators Rising Moment Competition Reminder:
The Educators Rising Moment Competition is always the first competition of the year, because it's the "easiest lift." This is the one where each students prepares a 3–4-minute speech on why they wish to become a teacher. It's a great way to get your kids started in the world of competitions! This competition is for EVERYONE, including MIDDLE SCHOOLERS, JUNIOR VARSITY (9th and 10th grade) and VARSITY (11th and 12th grade). Last year, we had a NATIONAL FIRST PLACE WINNER from middle school, Peyton Miller of Cockeysville Middle in Baltimore County! This is a FANTASTIC competition for middle schoolers to experience! This year we are hosting this competition on Friday, September 27th from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm and on Saturday, September 28th from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. I will be sending out a sign-up sheet early next week, so please talk to your students about this competition, show them the overview and exemplar videos below, and have them sign up for a competition slot! The overview of the competition is below and the rubric is attached. Educators Rising Moment - INDIVIDUAL This is the competition where the student needs to explain why they wish to become a teacher. It has to be a personal story, not a cliché. It needs to be based upon their personal experience. It needs to be original, creative and attention grabbing. The speech is 3 – 4 minutes long. They can utilize up to 5 4x6 index cards, one side only. https://youtu.be/VUWV237UjAc?si=vYc0MbTU6RhgfBVz - Overview video https://youtu.be/QljcFaCmVag - exemplar video
